OVS - Back to School - OVS5
Well, my holiday from the blog and the comic are now over. I've had an awful lot to do over the summer and very little time to do it in. But I have my new pencil case and ill-fitting uniform and I'm back! It's a joy to be writing again and have just delivered two scripts to artists for the next issue of Omnivistascope, which will, incredibly, be issue 5. I have a few more scripts to do and then I'll be editing and working on my games.
The issue is now planned to be out for February 2009 and the Inverness comics festival, Hi-Ex. Getting a second issue out this year was a bit optimistic (and almost impossible for me and the other artists) but we're full steam ahead for early in the new year. The festival went very well last year and I've booked again this year. You really ought to see Inverness in February... Anyway, the issue is pencilled in to coincide with Hi-Ex.
Making a return will be some old favourites from the Solar Wind days. I'd hate to jinx it and say which ones, but it'll be good it see them back (Not Cosmic Ray, I think hes' dead, sorry kids). With the early OVS I tried very hard to distance the comics from each other. One was retro and silly, the other futuristic and dark and they were to firmly be their own comics. Though a few of the characters will jump ship, this isn't a merger ;) Now Solar Wind has ended, I have no problem with a bit of silliness creeping in.
There will also be more guest strips (Ben Clark's Holy Island going down very well - Cheers Ben) as I change the way the comic is published. It's going to go print on demand as I no longer have space to store many comics, though I will keep a cache for conventions and mail order.
I have seen the sketches for the cover, and some of the strip art and it's all looking very nice indeed.
Thanks for sticking with me, I hope to be posting up some actual comic strips for you to read on the site soon.

Great news on getting an issue out for Hi-Ex Paul. We are planning on a new FutureQuake for that con as well as a delayed MangaQuake! Really looking forward to it.
Cheers, don't want to tempt fate, but it's looking good so far :) Plus it's always nice to turn up to a festival with a new comic!
