TV - Survivors is Back

The 1970's tale of the people who survive a civilisation destroying pandemic is back to haunt a new generation in a BBC TV series to be broadcast Sunday 23rd of November.

The series was created by Terry Nation who scripted part of the first (of three) series and the first (of two) novels.

Normally the idea of a 're-imagining' of a classic TV series or film sets my teeth on edge, but this is the sort of story that needs retelling for each generation. As the world ending in the mid-70's necessarily has to be a different one that the world would face thirty years later.

You can get the original series on DVD and they are definitely worth a watch. The first series has some of the most haunting cult TV you're likely to see, the second series is a little weaker with some good episodes, and series three rattles along to a fantastic penultimate episode and a quickly summed up end.

I know very little about the new show, but I'm full of anticipation.

Be sure to tune in

On the novel front, I realise I've been slightly mistaken in my calculations, the target is 1667 words a day, not 1500, so I'm a bit further behind than I thought (curses!). But I've made very good progress today (the benefits of being stuck at home while the car is in the garage). I've got a tricky few days ahead so I'll be happy to keep up and not fall too far behind. If only I'd started on time, I'd be roaring away by now (excuses excuses). A lesson learned for next year!

Completed: 15,119 Target: 20,004 of 50,000
