"Whisht! lads, haad yor gobs, aa'll tell ye aall and aaful story, Whisht! lads, haad yor gobs, an' aal tell ye 'bout the worm!"
Welcome to a little bit of the North East of England, online. It is here I shall tell you terrible tales of monstrous creatures that once roamed this region. The most famous of these is The Lambton Worm, a creature which fascinated me as a child and once may have slithered mere miles from where I lived.
Here we shall talk of the legends, what truth may lie behind them, and the people who have been inspired by them. I have done a fair amount of research already as I was once looking to produce a book mixing comic strips as well as factual and fictional writings.
Though when I discovered that comics genius Bryan Talbot was working on a Lambton Worm strip, I decided not to continue with the book, for as I rightly feared his Alice in Sunderland bookturned out to be something of a masterwork! It seemed unfair at the time that someone so talented should be on your doorstep covering the same ground at the same time, but I've quite gotten over it :)
So, it's time to return to The Wyrms of Northumbria and I hope to put much of my work up on this site, some of the things I've discovered and some of the interviews with authors I've collected as well as research some new material.
Noo lads, Aa'll haad me gob, for now!
Paul
