It is the near future, and mankind has been wiped out in a non-specific cataclysm.
Only one man has survived.
He's gone wrong.
He is... The Omigawd Man.
The Omigawd Man, thanks to Chris Askham the artist, is the site's first ongoing full colour web-strip. You can follow the adventures by viewing them on the blog, on the homepage. All of the old strips are there in the archives, published approximately once a week. Usually at the weekend or the following Monday.
The first two episodes were written back in June 2004 and drawn for September 2004 (judging by the dates on the files), for a post-apocalypse magazine I was planning to edit and publish called The End is Nigh. But it simply proved too much for me editorially with my other commitments and was taken over by professional journalist Mike Molcher, who went on to produce three fantastic issues and made it very much his mag.
Somehow, the two B/W strips Chris had drawn slipped through the gaps and never got published. There is no greater crime than wasting an artist's precious time and effort, so trying to assuage my guilt, I decided when I was starting the site's blog in January 2008 to finally letter them and put them up for all to see. It did no harm that the strips looked so lovely. And with a recent version of Richard Matheson's I am Legend out at the cinemas, itself more of a remake of The Omega Man, it was even topical.
I was really pleased with the end result, and asked if Chris would do some more. Luckily for us all, he said yes, and so I have started writing new Omigawd Man strips all these years later. So, I hope you'll join us in seeing how low can one man really go, when there's nobody there to say 'no that's bad'.
